# Creating and Linking Shopify Customers with XoroERP

### Overview

Customers can be created in Shopify and linked to their corresponding customer records in XoroERP using a **Customer Identifier Code**. The selected XoroERP custom field is used to store the XoroERP customer ID against the Shopify customer, allowing Shopify orders to be imported into XoroERP under the correct customer.

### Workflow

**Step 1:** In Shopify, go to **Customers** and click **Add customer**.

**Step 2:** On the **New customer** page, enter the customer's required information, including their **First name**, **Last name**, **Email**, **Phone number**, and **Default address**.

**Step 3:** Click **Save** to create the customer.

**Step 4:** After the customer is created, open the customer record and note the customer's **ID** displayed in the customer list. This is the Shopify Customer ID.

**Step 5:** In XoroERP, open the **Sales Channel** configuration and go to the **General** tab. Under **Customer Identifier Code**, select the XoroERP **Custom Field** that will be used to identify the corresponding XoroERP customer.&#x20;

This field is used to match the Shopify customer with the XoroERP customer.

**Step 6:** In XoroERP, create or open the customer record that you want to link to the Shopify customer.

<figure><img src="https://3188343778-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fkf8DNCjEfcSm64PCPcmf%2Fuploads%2Fg3ko78VNd7adWQjXQ3KS%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=1c3ab203-887d-49ba-aceb-9a781043dfd0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Step 7:** Open the customer's **Custom Fields** and enter the **Shopify Customer ID** in the selected custom field.

**Step 8:** In Shopify, create a Sales Order for the customer you created.

<figure><img src="https://3188343778-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fkf8DNCjEfcSm64PCPcmf%2Fuploads%2Fv311KfQuc0aqj9fCIS61%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=44276b2b-d6f7-46a2-ae92-d37cb6cbe25d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Step 9:** Now, in the Sales Channel in XoroERP, import the Shopify order.

<figure><img src="https://3188343778-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fkf8DNCjEfcSm64PCPcmf%2Fuploads%2F66s8cOZ509a3SBX6yQEM%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=a6e5d149-e6d1-4f80-b7c8-62f7b3fda86a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Step 10:** Open the imported Sales Order in XoroERP and verify that the order has been created for the **XoroERP customer linked to the Shopify customer** through the configured **Customer Identifier Code**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.xorosoft.com/xoroerp-1/connected-apps/shopify/creating-and-linking-shopify-customers-with-xoroerp.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
