# Shopify Returns

### Overview

Shopify Returns allow customers to send back products they have purchased when they are no longer required, are incorrect, or have another eligible return reason. In the XoroERP integration, a return initiated through Shopify and processed through Loop is carried into Xoro through an **RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization)** and an automatically generated **ASN (Advance Shipping Notice)**. The returned items are then received and processed before the corresponding financial or order transactions are created in Xoro.

Shopify Returns are classified based on **what the customer wants to receive in exchange for the returned item**:

### Types of Shopify Returns

**1. Refund**

The customer returns the item and receives a **refund**. For a refund, the return is processed through the RMA and ASN flow. Once the return is fully received, the order is synchronized with Xoro and a **refunded Credit Memo** is automatically created.

**2. Credit**

The customer returns the item and receives **store credit** instead of a refund to the original payment method. Once the return is fully received, Xoro automatically creates a **Credit Memo with the gift card ID**.

**3. Exchange**

The customer returns the original item and receives another item in exchange. Exchange returns are further classified based on the value of the replacement item:

* **Equal-value Exchange** — The replacement item has the same value as the returned item. Xoro receives the exchange information and creates an **Exchange Order with $0**.
* **Greater-value Exchange** — The replacement item costs more than the returned item. Xoro creates an **Exchange Order with an additional deposit** for the difference.
* **Lesser-value Exchange** — The replacement item costs less than the returned item. Xoro creates an **Exchange Order and Credit Memo** for the applicable difference.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.xorosoft.com/xoroerp-1/connected-apps/shopify/shopify-returns.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
