A batch manufacturing order is used to create products in batch. Instead of creating different Manufacturing Orders for different manufacturable Items, one batch can be created. Batch manufacturing order helps manage production processes efficiently, ensuring smooth production runs, meeting quality standards, effectively managing inventory, and maintaining product consistency.
Creating a batch manufacturing order involves entering the items to be manufactured and the details of the processes and services required for manufacturing the goods. This streamlined approach aids in optimizing the manufacturing process and ensuring that production stays on track.
To create the batch manufacture order, begin by entering the store, schedule date and memo (if required).
Once this information is entered, select the base products and the options (if required). All the manufacturable items will be retrieved in the 'Manufacture Item Number' section.
Select the item lines that you want to produce and enter the qty for the items. Then, move the item lines and add them to the batch.
After the items have been moved, move to the section below and choose the Process (grading, cutting, dyeing, etc.) to be applied for the manufacturing with the Production stages. Click "Add" to add the process to the order.
In the same manner, Services can be added to the batch manufacturing order in the next section.
Finally, select the location for the raw materials and the finished goods, and select "Generate Batch" to create the batch manufacturing order.
An MO will be generated for each item in the batch, along with a Batch MO Number.
In the Manufacturing Order Centre, the Batch MO’s can be found with their MO numbers.
An “Add Later” functionality is added for Processes and Services. This comes in handy when you do not want to add the processes and/or services for the manufacturing right away.
This allows you to add the processes and services at a later stage by clicking on the batch number in the Manufacture Order Centre. You can also update the process and services using this option.
Please note that you can add/update processes and services only if the MO(s) of the selected batch is in Open or Release status.
Splitting the Batch Manufacturing Order
The Batch Manufacture Order sub-view allows you to update the quantity of the MO(s) and split the MO(s), if required.
To split the MO, update the quantity in the "Qty To Produce" column in the Batch Manufacture Order sub-view. This is editable when the MO is in “Open/Release” and “In-Picking” status. The 'Qty to Produce' can not be greater than the original Qty on the MO.
When any Qty is changed in the “Qty to produce” column, you will find the option to create new MO(s) for the remaining quantity. Select this checkbox and from the dropdown option, select whether Qty has to be updated for all the MO’s or only for the selected MO’s.
If the checkbox is selected and Qty to Produce is updated then a new MO will be generated under the same batch with the remaining Qty (Qty-“Qty to Produce”).
The existing MO Qty will also be updated with the Qty = Qty Produce Qty. On the Other hand, if the “Create New MO(s) for the remaining Qty flag is unchecked, no new MO will be created and the Qty and Qty to Produce columns will get updated with the new Qty.
Please Note: If any MO is linked with PO then PO linking will also be updated, and in the same case if a new MO is created then that will also be linked with an already linked PO.
The Batch MO module provides the ability to update/change the Qty to Produce.
The following steps outline how to change the Qty to Produce or split a Batch MO:
Open Batch MO from MO Centre.
The Manufacture Order section includes a “Qty To Produce“ column. If this column is not visible, add it using the nine dots menu.
This column is editable when the MO is in “Open/Release” and in “In-Picking” status. However, the updated quantity cannot exceed the original quantity listed on the MO.
Once you modify the "Qty to Produce" field, you will see a checkbox for generating new MO(s). This allows you to either update the existing MO or create a new one for the remaining quantity.
Select whether Qty has to be updated for all the MO’s or only for the selected MO’s.
Please Note:
If any MO is linked to a PO then the PO linking will also be updated. This is the same case if a new MO is created then that will also be linked with an already linked PO.
