# What is a VAS Item?

VAS or Value-Added Service refers to any additional service or feature associated with a product, providing added value to the customers. This can include customization or additional features for a product. You have to consider these services when processing an order for the customer. The purpose of these value-added services is to elevate the overall customer experience, and this can also be used to set a product or service apart from its competitors.

In XoroERP, these value-added services can be added using a VAS item. You have the option to assign either a flat or percentage value to the VAS item. Alternatively, you can establish VAS item rules to automatically apply the VAS item when creating a sales order.

VAS items can be created from the 'VAS Item' module. Click [here](/xoroerp-1/admin/item/vas-item/creating-a-vas-item.md) to learn about creating the VAS item.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.xorosoft.com/xoroerp-1/admin/item/vas-item/what-is-a-vas-item.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
