The Item Specification module in XoroERP is designed to define and manage detailed specifications associated with items in the manufacturing process. This module allows users to create item-specific attributes and link them with relevant properties, units of measure, and test methods.
By utilizing this module, users can maintain standardized item definitions and ensure consistent quality control during manufacturing operations.
The Item Specification Header contains key fields for defining the basic details of the item specification. Below is a breakdown of the fields:
Field
Description
Name
The name of the item specification. This field is mandatory and uniquely identifies the specification.
Item Specification Class
A dropdown field that allows the selection of a predefined classification for the item specification.
The Item Specification Lines section allows users to add detailed properties and measurements associated with the item specification. Below is a breakdown of the fields:
Field
Description
Item Specification Property
The property to be defined for the item, selected from the existing properties in the Item Specification Property module.
Item Specification UOM
The Unit of Measure (UOM) to be associated with the property, selected from the Item Specification UOM module.
Item Specification Test Method
The test method used to measure or validate the specified property, selected from the Item Specification Test Method module.
Required Value
The target value or range expected for the specified property. This value is used as a benchmark during manufacturing and quality control processes.
To create an Item Specification, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Item Specification module by selecting: Menu > Manufacturing > Manufacturing Lab Record > Item Specification.
Name: Enter a unique name for the item specification. Ensure the name is descriptive to easily identify the specification.
Item Specification Class: Select the appropriate classification for the item specification from the dropdown menu.
Click on the option to add a new line in the Item Specification Lines section.
Fill in the following fields for each line:
Item Specification Property: Select the property to define for the item.
Item Specification UOM: Choose the Unit of Measure associated with the property.
Item Specification Test Method: Select the method used to measure or validate the property.
Required Value: Input the expected value or range for the property.
Repeat the process for additional properties as needed.
Once all required details are entered, click the Save button to save the item specification.
A confirmation message will appear upon successful creation.
The Item Specification module integrates seamlessly with the Manufacturing Lab Record module to provide a robust framework for defining, managing, and validating item specifications. For example:
Item specifications created in this module are directly referenced in manufacturing lab records to ensure compliance with predefined standards.
Properties, UOMs, and test methods defined within an item specification are utilized during quality control processes to measure and validate manufacturing outcomes.
The Item Specification module thus serves as a cornerstone for maintaining quality and operational consistency, enabling precise item definition and efficient manufacturing management.
