In any warehouse management system, the movement of inventory between locations is critical for smooth operations. One of the key processes in XoroWMS that supports efficient inventory management is the Replenishment Putaway module. This module ensures that stock levels in active picking areas remain sufficient by transferring goods from reserve or overstock locations.
Once the inventory is picked from the reserve location, the next essential step is the Replenishment Putaway process, where the picked inventory is moved to an active picking location, making it readily available for allocation and order fulfillment. This step is crucial for maintaining seamless operations, especially in high-demand environments where stock needs to be quickly accessible.
Picking from Reserve Location:
The process starts with picking items from a reserve location—this is typically a larger area used for overstock or bulk storage.
The inventory is transferred to a staging area temporarily before being moved to its final active picking location.
Putaway to Active Location:
Once the inventory has been staged, the Putaway task involves placing this inventory into an active location. This is a picking location designed for quicker access by warehouse workers during the order picking process.
The key benefit of this step is that it ensures the picking areas are continuously stocked with the right inventory, reducing downtime and enhancing order fulfillment efficiency.
Replen PutAway – After the successful completion of the pick task, the system presents users with a prompt offering two options: a. they can either proceed with the Replenishment PutAway process b. or choose to initiate a new task. The Replen PutAway option allows the user to move the picked inventory to an active picking location, ensuring it is available for future order fulfillment. Alternatively, selecting to initiate a new task enables the user to immediately start another workflow, depending on operational needs. This flexibility ensures that users can efficiently manage ongoing tasks within the system.
Accessibility for Further Processes:
Once the replenished stock is put away, it becomes visible and accessible in XoroWMS. This means it is now ready for allocation to fulfill any open or future orders.
Having the inventory in an active picking location also speeds up the order-picking process, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled in a timely manner.
Importance of Completing the Replenishment Putaway:
Failing to complete the putaway process can result in stock being unavailable for allocation, even if it's physically present in the warehouse. Therefore, ensuring that this step is completed is critical for the efficiency of the overall supply chain.
To complete the replenishment putaway process in XoroWMS, follow these detailed steps:
1. Navigate to the Replenishment Putaway Module:
Begin by logging into XoroWMS and accessing the Replenishment Putaway module from the warehouse management options.
2. Select an OPLN (Open Putaway Line Number):
The first step is to select the relevant OPLN and press Enter. This number corresponds to the inventory picked from the reserve location that is awaiting putaway.
3. Review the Inventory Details:
Once an OPLN is selected, the system will redirect you to the next page where you can review the details of the inventory. The system will show the item type, quantity, and the current reserve location from which the stock was picked. You need to fill in the Target Location to proceed.
Ensure the information is accurate before proceeding with the putaway.
4. Choose the Destination Active Location:
Next, select the active Target Location where the inventory will be placed. XoroWMS offers a list of predefined locations in the warehouse. You can choose from these based on the optimal placement for the items.
The active location is where the stock will be easily accessible for future picking operations.
5. Initiate the Putaway Task:
Once the destination location is confirmed, initiate the putaway process. XoroWMS will track the movement of the stock and update the system to reflect that the items have been transferred from the reserve to the active location.
6. Confirm Putaway Completion:
After the putaway task is completed, the system will prompt for confirmation. Review the stock levels at the new location to ensure accuracy.
Upon confirmation, the replenished stock is now fully available in the active picking area and ready for order fulfillment.
7. Stock Visibility for Order Fulfillment:
Once the inventory is put away in the active location, it becomes visible to the system for allocation. At this stage, the inventory is available for picking, packing, and shipping to fulfill open customer orders.
The Replenishment Putaway module in XoroWMS is a critical tool for ensuring that stock is always available in active picking locations, ready for immediate use. By efficiently moving inventory from reserve storage to active areas, this process helps streamline operations, reduce order fulfillment time, and ensure that customer demands are met promptly.
During this step, the system ensures that the correct stock levels are updated in real time. The system offers users with two options to Replen PutAway - System Directed and User Directed.
