# Scan ILPN

The Scan ILPN module allows you to scan/enter the ILPN at which the item will be received. This module also helps to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the receiving process by displaying brief details about an item.

### Scan ILPN Fields

* **ILPN#:** This field allows you to enter the ILPN number. Users can input an existing LPN or create a new one, depending on their needs. This flexibility ensures that both pre-existing and newly generated LPNs can be accommodated within the system.

### Assigning ILPNs

The process of assigning items to an ILPN in the Scan ILPN module can be accomplished through three distinct methods:

1. **Use an Existing LPN**: If there’s an LPN already in the system, you can simply enter that number to receive the associated items. This method is beneficial for speeding up processes and maintaining established tracking protocols.
2. **Use a New LPN**: Alternatively, users can also input a new LPN. For new items that require a unique identifier, you can manually enter a new LPN that has not been utilized previously.
3. **Auto-Generate**: To streamline the process even further, the system can automatically generate a new LPN based on a predefined pattern set in the "LPN# pattern for auto generated LPNs" app config. This helps to minimize potential human error and saves time.

If you are manually entering a new or existing LPN, click "Accept" to proceed to the next step of the receiving process. To automatically generate an ILPN, click "Auto Generate".
